Theodore Presser Company and Carl Fischer Music have announced the appointment of Stacy Frierson as Director of Concert Music. Frierson succeeds Barry O’Neal, who will retire from Carl Fischer Music on June 30, 2009 after 24 years with the company. Based in New York, Frierson will represent the catalogs of both Presser and Fischer alongside Judith Ilika, director of performance promotion based in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania. Composers whose works are in these two catalogs include: Samuel Adler, Martin Bresnick, Margaret Brouwer, Chen Yi, Daron Hagen, Adolphus Hailstork, Lee Hyla, Paul Lansky, David Maslanka, Shulamit Ran, Behzad Ranjbaran, Marga Richter, Peter Schickele/P.D.Q. Bach, Steven Stucky, George Tsontakis, Melinda Wagner, Richard Wernick, and Ellen Taaffe Zwilich.

A graduate of the New England Conservatory with a degree in cello performance, Frierson brings an extensive knowledge of contemporary music to her new position. She has been a member of the promotion department at Boosey & Hawkes and has also worked at the League of American Orchestras as Coordinator of Artistic Programs, where she was involved with the development and implementation of Music Alive, the ASCAP Awards for Adventurous Programming, Ford Made in America, and American Conducting Fellows. Frierson joins Presser/Fischer from IMG Artists, where as Orchestral Booking Associate she represented conductors, instrumentalists, and pops/attractions.

Carl Fischer Music and Theodore Presser Company are two of America’s oldest music publishers. Both catalogs contain a large and diversified selection of music literature from the educational field to that of concert music. In addition, the companies maintain an extensive rental library which makes available chamber, opera, ballet, and symphonic material to professional and educational performing organizations. Theodore Presser Company also represents the music of more than seventy American and foreign publishers. The companies are based in New York City and King of Prussia. (—From the press release)
