Composer, performer (clarinet, gamelan), founder of the Flexible Orchestra (in 2004), and co-founder/director of the DownTown Ensemble (since 1984), published by Theodore Presser ("Circlular Thoughts for Solo Clarinet"), and by Frog Peak Music, reviewed in the New York Times and the Village Voice since 1978, active in downtown New York and abroad from the 1970’s-on. Recordings on Folkways and many other labels. Latest: "Annbling" for the Flexible Orchestra on New World Records (2014). A founding member of Gamelan Son of Lion (1976), represented on all its recordings.
