Lukas Ligeti is among the five recipients of the 2010 Alpert Award in the Arts, The Herb Alpert Foundation and the California Institute of the Arts have announced.

Lukas Ligeti is among the five recipients of the 2010 Alpert Award in the Arts, The Herb Alpert Foundation and the California Institute of the Arts have announced. “With a $75,000 grant per artist, the Award supports our shared vision of the transforming power of the arts, and honors artists respected for their creativity, bodies of work, and ability to propel their art in new and unpredictable directions, making something that matters within and beyond their field.”

The other named awardees are Rachel Harrison in the visual arts category, Susan Rethorst in dance, Bill Talen, a.k.a. “Reverend Billy,” in theater, and Jim Trainor in the film/video category. You can explore the work of all the winning artists here.

In addition, the 2010 Residency Prizes have been awarded to: Shawn Sides (Alpert/Hedgebrook Residency Prize); Hasan Elahi, James Hong, Caden Manson, Zoe Scofield (Alpert/MacDowell Fellowship); Myra Melford (Alpert/Ragdale Prize); and Nayland Blake, Daniel Bozhkov, Nicole Mitchell, Stephen Vitiello (Alpert/Ucross Residency Prize).
