Nine composers have been selected to participate in the next round of Music Alive: New Partnerships, a program designed to foster new relationships between composers and orchestras which is co-administered by Meet The Composer and the League of American Orchestras. During fully funded one-week residencies, composers will engage with the community and attend performances of their music. The featured composers are: Kati Agocs, Gordon Beeferman, Jason Freeman, Kenneth Froelich, Ruby Fulton, Rafael Hernandez, Kristin Kuster, Missy Mazzoli, and Alejandro Rutty. These nine composers have been selected by an independent review panel based upon the merit of their proposed piece and the residency ideas each submitted in application to the program. Orchestras and other presenters of orchestral works have been invited to select a composer for residency. They can review information on the composers in an online gallery where complete biographies of the composers, excerpts of the proposed pieces, and details on residency ideas are displayed. —Condensed from the press release
