George Crumb: Metamorphoses, Book 2
Premiere recording of a new masterpiece by George Crumb
Composer George Crumb is one of the grandmasters of American art music. His compositional voice has been an influential and honored part of the American and global soundscape since the 1960s. We are seeking support for the recording of a major new work by Crumb, Metamorphoses, Book II (2018), to be recorded by pianist Marcantonio Barone. Book II, (comprising ten pieces), lasts approximately 45 minutes, with each of the pieces based on a well-known painting–a latter day Pictures at an Exhibition. Bridge Records, Inc. will produce and release these performances in a high-quality recording that will be distributed online and physically to a worldwide audience. Producer David Starobin has worked with George Crumb for 45 years, culminating in his oversight of Bridge’s “Complete Crumb Edition” series, which has received numerous awards, including a Grammy award for Star-Child (2000), and a Grammy Nomination for Ancient Voices of Children (2005).
