Edition Peters has announced that American composer Ashley Fure has signed a publishing agreement with the firm, beginning with the publication of four of her works: Bound to the Bow, Therefore I Was, Shiver Lung, and Shiver Lung II.
“Ashley Fure has a unique voice,” said Kathryn Knight, President of C.F. Peters, the New York office of the global Edition Peters Group according to the press release on the Petersthe press release on the Peters website. “Her visionary approach and her imaginative exploration of the possibilities of sound are very exciting.”
“Ashley’s music is a fitting addition to the Peters catalogue, alongside other sonic explorers from the 19th, 20th and 21st centuries,” added Gene Caprioglio, C.F. Peters’ Vice President for New Music & Rights. “We are excited to be able to support this innovative and visionary artist, and to share her music with a growing worldwide audience.”
The signing of Fure marks the third signing of an American composer in the past year by Peters, a publishing house established in 1800, which was one of the original publishers of Beethoven (including the first edition of the Eroica), and in more recent times has published the music of John Cage, Milton Babbitt, Chou Wen-chung, Mario Davidovsky, George Crumb, Christian Wolff, Charles Wuorinen, Roger Reynolds, and David Rakowski. The other two American composers recently signed to the Peters roster are George Lewis and Sky Macklay.
