G. Schirmer, Inc., part of the Music Sales Group, has announced a worldwide publishing administration agreement with composer, performer, activist, curator, and educator Du Yun, winner of the 2017 Pulitzer Prize for her opera Angel’s Bone.
In 2020 and 2021, there will be many high-profile performances of Du Yun’s music. Sweet Land, premiering February 29-March 15 in Los Angeles, is a collaboration with pioneering opera company The Industry. In addition, the LA Phil New Music Group under the direction of David Bloom will give the world premiere of a new Du Yun work on April 21 and Angel’s Bone will receive its West Coast premiere at LA Opera on May 1. Fallen Warriors will be performed at the Internationales Musikinstitut Darmstadt in July, and the composer’s string quartet Tattooed in Snow will be heard at the Tanglewood Music Center August 7. In 2021, a new Du Yun work commissioned by the New York Philharmonic as part of their Project 19 initiative will receiev its world premiere as will In Our Daughter’s Eyes, a one-person opera co-commissioned by Beth Morrison Projects and Trinity Wall Street that meditates on the challenges and rewards of parenthood. Schirmer will share a comprehensive overview of Du Yun’s existing catalog of compositions in the coming months, as performance materials become available.
