Five World Premieres in Vail, Colorado

Bravo! Vail, an annual music festival held in Vail, Colorado, has announced the world premieres of five works they have commissioned to celebrate their 30th season. The new works, four for orchestra and one for chamber ensemble, are by a group of four American composers and a French composer that their website has described as “today’s most innovative composers.”

The five works, plus their premiere dates and the musicians who will perform them at Bravo! Vail, are listed below:

Edgar Meyer: Overture for Violin and Orchestra
The Academy of St Martin in the Fields with Joshua Bell, violin and conductor, June 22

Roberto Sierra: Dos Piezas para Orquesta
Dallas Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Jaap van Zweden. June 30

Guillaume Connesson: Le tombeau des regrets
The Philadelphia Orchestra, conducted by Stéphane Denève, July 9

Julia Adolphe: White Stone
New York Philharmonic, conducted by Alan Gilbert, July 26

David Ludwig: Pangaea for strings and piano
Classically Uncorked, August 3
